Couple celebrates 60th wedding anniversary

Andy (Albert) and Coralie Andrew will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on New Year’s Day, with family that includes six children and many grandchildren. The couple were wed at the Broadway Christian Church in Wichita, Kan., on Jan. 1, 1950, sixty years ago, as a blizzard rolled into town. As the couple tells it, “Andy was an Oklahoma farm boy of 20, who was working in Wichita for the summer, to help with college expenses that fall and Coralie, at 19, was raised as a Kansas farm girl and was working as an office clerk.” In her own words, Coralie describes their very first meeting set up by mutual friends for lunch with another couple. “At the very first meeting, a tall, lanky guy with a two inch high pompadour strode in and sat down, ordered a dish of ice cream and barely having taken two bites, he jumped up suddenly and said, “Oh, my parking meter” and left but didn’t return to finish,” said Coralie. “My girlfriends’ boyfriend had to pay for our lunch and the strange
